Professor Aharon Ciechanover

A Laureate of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry, Professor Ciechanover is currently a Distinguished research Professor at the Cancer and Vascular Biology Research Center of the Rappaport Research Institute and Faculty of Medicine at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, in Haifa, Israel.

As a graduate student at the Technion with Dr. Avram Hershko and in collaboration with Dr. Irwin A. Rose from the Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Ciechanover discovered the ubiquitin-mediated proteolytic system. The three were awarded the 2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for their discovery. He received his Doctorate of Science in 1982 from the Technion, and was trained as a post-doctoral fellow in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (M.I.T.) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Professor Gad Galili

Professor Galili is head of the Department of Plant Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, Israel. He has authored or co-authored over 100 professional papers and reviews in plant genetics, molecular and cellular biology, and is a co-editor of a book entitled Seed Development and Germination (with Jamie Kigel). Galili is a member of a number of international scientific associations and has been invited to present his work in many national and international meetings. Prof. Galili received his Ph.D. from the Weizmann Institute of Science.
